Description
A lot of people make bases out of popular drawings here. That put a silly little "rule list" in all of them they always demand credit and permittion from them. They also add the obligatory "link to the original" ..wich is a link to their own photobucket/imageuploader accounts, intead of the owner who is on deviantart .
Its very clever. (sarcasm)
They real owner never finds out. Reports turn out to be invalid since "a link to the original in their photobucket accounts was added". Other members, that had no idea the base they used was not authorized by the owner, get accused of art thief. And all credit goes to the base maker for making a good work available for others to trace/copy.
Back to the subject -
I think its important for base makers to ask or at least inform the authors, that they plan to use their works. I just saw a case where a fellow artist found out people were making ugly reproductions of a valentine gift she made.. thanks to a girl who made a base out of her drawing without even asking and gave free permittion to others to do "their own versions" . not cool
Ive seen a lot of base makers intentionally not add the real author or the link to the original work (used for the base) in the comments, so they could still keep the base up and claim all the credit for it.
This stamp was born thanks to a base maker who said, when asked if the author gave permittion for her work to be turned into a free base:
"..the owner didnt say i couldnt do a base of his/her work.. so i did "
So there you go.
